MAUREEN DODEMONT
Mischer’ Traxler studio, "Color kinesthesia"
« Based in Vienna, Katharina Mischer and Thomas Traxler develop and design products, furniture, installations and more, with a focus on experiments, context and conceptual thinking.
Balancing between handcraft and technology, the studio envisions whole systems, new production methods and kinetic or interactive installations that question topics, tell stories or open up new ways of doing things. »

The work they presented at the Design Museum was the result of a workshop. The theme is simple, color in motion. The translations of color are varied, surprising, fun. You can feel the game. The work presented at the museum seems to serve only as a trace of the work itself. Testimony of what was a moment. The supports to transmit the worskhop range from the colored objects used, to furniture, short videos and photos.
Christien MENDERSTMA, « Fibre Market », 2016
« Fibre Market is a research project exploring the possibilities of the Fibre Sort machine that has recently been developed by Wieland Textiles and Valvan Baling Systems. The machine can scan and sort clothing based upon its material contents, making what was once an inefficient and difficult process – relying on touch and sight – efficient and swift. »

I like the process, all the life that had lived those sweaters: someday, someone find it too old and gave it, after a machine identified it, then Christien Menderstma choose it for her work, and make composition with it and other sweaters. After that, she transformed the sweater in fiber (back to ancient state).
For me, there is a beautiful walk between individual story, global story, industrial and preciosity. I like the way how she transmits the behind of fibers transformation, the fact that she shows machines, their rhythm, etc. She makes more accessible the invisible work behind clothes and recycling.
She is generous on her way of documented/story telling her work : in the design museum there were big wall with samplers, a ballot of carded fibers, different colors of fiber, and the film to show the machine process.
